Structures that stand for the future by building on the past. Bauen Architecture chooses materials, sites, and practices design that is intended for longevity.
The German word bauen translates to "to build" or "to construct" in English. It can also mean "to dwell", or "to inhabit".
The Bauen ethos stems from Bauhaus. Bauhaus stressed simplification and functionality, embraced modernity, and dismissed ornamentation. Bauen’s designs align, they tend to be streamlined, make use of geometric shapes, and embraces raw materials, like steel, concrete, and brick.
Black and patina is a focal point for the Bauen brand, drawing from their consistent choices in material palettes and the brand’s desire to remain minimalist.
A pattern was created around their ethos of “building upon” with the creation of an abstract representation of steel framing. Playing into the minimalist approach of foundational structures that are sustainable, and purposeful.
